Real Madriz Fútbol Club is a Nicaraguan football team playing at the top level. It is based in Somoto.

History

On 13 April 2021, the club under Honduran coach Hector Medina reached its first Copa Nicaragua and first top tier league final after defeating Deportivo Jalapa 4–3 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 after extra time. The Copa Nicaragua final on 21 October 2021 saw Real Madriz lose 3-1 to Deportivo Walter Ferretti, with Roris Espinoza scoring the lone goal on 57 minutes. However despite almost winning the Copa Nicaragua, the club was relegated from the primera division.

Real Madriz FC (fully known as Real Madriz Fútbol Club) is a Nicaraguan professional football club based in the city of Somoto, Madriz department. They currently compete in the Nicaraguan Primera División, the country's top flight of football. The club was established in 1996 and is currently owned by Juan Ramón Lacayo, a local businessman and politician. Real Madriz FC has won one Primera División title, in 2017, and has been runner-up on three other occasions. The club has also won the Nicaraguan Cup four times, in 2002, 2003, 2016, and 2019.

Real Madriz FC plays its home matches at the Estadio Independencia in Somoto. The stadium has a capacity of 4,000 and is owned by the city of Somoto. The club's current head coach is Argelio Fernández, who was appointed in 2019.

Real Madriz FC has a strong rivalry with C.D. Walter Ferretti, another Nicaraguan club based in Managua. The two clubs have met in the Primera División final on several occasions, including in 2017 when Real Madriz FC won their first title.

Some of the most notable players to have played for Real Madriz FC include Juan Barrera, Manuel Rosas, and Jorge Betancur. Barrera is the club's all-time leading goalscorer, while Rosas and Betancur are both members of the Nicaraguan national team.
