Club Deportivo Alfonso Ugarte is a Peruvian association football club, based in the city of Puno. The club is the biggest in the city of Puno. It was founded in 1928 and play in the Peruvian Segunda Division which is the second division of the Peruvian league.
History
The club have played at the highest level of Peruvian football on eighteen occasions, from 1974 Torneo Descentralizado until 1991 Torneo Descentralizado when was relegated.
In the 1999 Copa Perú, the club classified to the National Stage, but was eliminated by Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego of Trujillo in the finals.
In the 2001 Copa Perú, the club classified to the National Stage, but was eliminated by Deportivo Bolito of Tacna in the quarterfinals.
The club have played at the Peruvian Segunda División on two occasions, from 2006 until 2007 when was relegated.
In the 2012 Copa Perú, Alfonso Ugarte lost the final against UTC from Cajamarca and classified to the Segunda Division Peruana once again.
**Historie:**
CD Alfonso Ugarte ble grunnlagt den 18. august 1928 av en gruppe studenter fra Colegio Nacional San Carlos i Puno. Klubbens navn er til ære for general Alfonso Ugarte, en peruansk helt som forsvarte landet mot den chilenske invasjonen i 1880.
I de tidlige årene spilte CD Alfonso Ugarte i amatørligaene i Puno. I 1972 rykket laget opp til den peruanske Segunda División, den nest høyeste divisjonen i landet. Etter flere sesonger der rykket de til slutt opp til den peruanske Primera División i 1998.
**Suksesser:**
CD Alfonso Ugartes største suksess kom i 1999 da de nådde finalen i Copa Perú, det peruanske cupmesterskapet. De vant ikke finalen, men deltakelsen deres ga dem en plass i Copa Sudamericana i 2000, den nest viktigste klubbturneringen i Sør-Amerika.
I 2014 rykket CD Alfonso Ugarte ned til Segunda División, men de har siden klart å holde seg i den divisjonen.
**Nåværende sesong:**
I 2023 vil CD Alfonso Ugarte delta i Segunda División. Laget trenes av Javier Arce og har som mål å returnere til Primera División.
